Staff said the assessment cataloged over 4,000 city trees, identified species composition, mapped locations, and recommended maintenance, pruning and removal priorities along with public outreach and grant opportunities.
Council members said the plan will help move the city from a reactive to a proactive urban‑forest maintenance approach, improve public-safety preparedness for wind‑related tree hazards, and strengthen applications for grant funding. The council amended the resolution wording to include the plan’s formal title (community forest management plan) and approved the resolution.
