Town staff reported on an RFP issued January 13, 2026 for residential solid-waste collection and said the town received proposals from Meridian Waste North Carolina, LLC and Waste Management of Carolinas, Inc. A four-person review committee evaluated proposals on experience, service approach, reliability and overall value and unanimously recommended Meridian Waste based on prior local performance and a lower bid.
