Library trustees report solar-panel installation and successful generator test as site work proceeds

Mont Vernon — During their April 21 meeting, the Mont Vernon Library Trustees received an update from the building committee on the library renovation and site work. Anne Dodd, the Daland trustee and clerk of the works, reported that 44 solar panels have been installed on the building and that a recent generator test was successful and capable of powering necessary systems.
Dodd said site work began the week of the meeting to correct a discrepancy in front-entrance elevations and to move dirt so the lawn may be seeded. She reported that Turnstone will complete the remaining electrical connections; those hours were not included in the original contract and are expected to be billed as a change order. Dodd urged trustees not to touch electrical or mechanical systems until the town has formally taken possession of the building.
The building committee also selected exterior plantings, and Dodd said the wallpaper mural in the children’s room will be removed next week as part of finishing work. The trustees noted the building committee will continue to coordinate with the building inspector and the fire chief, who have received reports on the generator test and other site work.
The building committee will meet next on May 2 at 2 p.m. at the library.
