Ridgefield honors Community In Motion and highlights accessible transportation needs

Mayor Matt Cole read a proclamation recognizing July 2026 as Americans with Disabilities Month and invited Community In Motion (CIM) representatives to accept it and present on accessible transportation services.

Holly Hill, a board member for Community In Motion, described the agency’s history and services — including nonemergency medical transportation, employment transportation, the North County shuttle and the Volunteers in Motion program — and shared a personal account of how transportation access affects people with disabilities. Hill said CIM serves five counties (Wahkiakum, Cowlitz, Skamania, Clark and Klickitat) and highlighted gaps the organization fills, particularly for seniors, people with disabilities and low-income residents.

Hill asked for volunteers, donors and partner organizations; several council members offered to help connect CIM with C-TRAN and other local partners. Councilors also asked operational questions about the scope of volunteer driver routes and training. CIM representatives said volunteers can choose service radii and that onboarding includes background checks and orientation.
