At its June 18, 2026 meeting in Mechanicsburg, the Silver Spring Land Preservation Review Board voted unanimously to ask the Board of Supervisors to accept two properties into the township land preservation program and to authorize appraisals.
Vice-Chair Rob Shaw moved that the board request Board of Supervisors approval to accept the township-owned parcel at RR North Locust Point Road (Tax ID 38-08-0569-016) into the program and have it appraised; J. L. Bruner seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Later, Secretary Sharon Wevodau moved that the board request Board of Supervisors approval to accept the Brian and Jo Anne Vogelsong property at Wertzville Road (Tax ID 38-05-0435-117) and have it appraised; J. L. Bruner seconded and that motion also passed unanimously.
The motions followed an executive session on real estate held from 7:20 p.m. to 7:50 p.m. The minutes record the formal outcomes but do not list individual roll-call votes; the motions are recorded as approved unanimously.
The meeting also reviewed several active negotiations and next steps for other properties. Jeb Musser of Lancaster Farmland Trust told the board that work remains on a subordination agreement and driveway issues for 9 Stillmeadows Lane (Tax ID 38-05-0437-028C), with settlement projected in July or August 2026. Musser, Chair Frank Evelhoch and LP Program Coordinator Laura Brown will meet property owners on July 1, 2026 to present an agreement of sale for 42 Sherwood Drive (Tax ID 38-05-0433-013) and 477 Rich Valley Road (Tax ID 38-05-0433-004).
Members reported that an agreement of sale for parcels on Wertzville Road (Tax IDs 38-05-0435-118 and 38-05-0435-013) has been signed by the owner after a June 10 meeting; subdivision issues will be resolved after a survey and an easement for a driveway will be created. Musser will solicit bids for the required survey.
Rob Shaw and Laura Brown also recounted a May 28 meeting with Natural Lands, the new owner of 106 and 122 Glendale Drive (Tax IDs 38-04-0367-005 and 38-04-0367-004), during which board members reviewed a draft conservation plan and toured the property; Natural Lands is expected to propose conveying an easement as the next step.
The board adjourned at 7:52 p.m.; its next regular meeting is scheduled for July 16, 2026.
