Renick R-V board approves FY27 budget, adopts handbook updates

The Renick R-V Board of Education on June 16, 2026 approved the district's fiscal year 2027 budget and a set of handbook updates ahead of the July 1 effective date. Board President Josh Taylor called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. at district headquarters in Renick.
The board approved the consent agenda, which included payment of bills and the May 2026 regular meeting minutes, on a 6-0 vote after Board member Tyler Cleeton moved to approve and Board member Brenda Hubert seconded. The substitute teacher list had no updates and there were no communications to the board reported at the meeting.
In new business, the board approved multiple handbook updates effective July 1, 2026. Board member Tyler Cleeton moved to adopt the Admin Manual changes (updates to years, the school calendar, an administrative letter and personnel items), Employee Manual adjustments (substitute pay, long-term substitute pay, pay rate for unused personal days and FMLA language), Student Handbook meal-price changes, and Tiny Rams Handbook guidance on sending sick children home; the Mentor Handbook was presented for information only. The motion carried 6-0, with Brenda Hubert seconding.
Also under new business, the board adopted the FY27 budget on a 6-0 vote after a motion by Tyler Cleeton and a second by Board member Richelle Gobel. The board then approved a motion by Board member Michael McKeown, seconded by Cleeton, to zero out the teachers' fund; that motion likewise passed 6-0.
Principal Danell Rice delivered an information-only principal report. Superintendent Jeana Calloway-Hodson provided informational updates on finance-by-fund and ledger items; facility and legislative updates were also noted as information only. The board discussed summer maintenance, confirmed there will be no July 2026 meeting, and set the next regular meeting for August 11, 2026 at 6:00 p.m., with a tax rate hearing scheduled immediately before at 5:55 p.m.
Board member Tyler Cleeton moved to adjourn at 6:43 p.m.; Brenda Hubert seconded and the motion carried 6-0. The meeting record lists Board President Josh Taylor and Board Secretary Karen Williams as signatories.
