Chase County Schools board adopts multiple policy updates, tables policy 5032

At its Dec. 9 meeting the Chase County Schools Board of Education approved policies 4015 and 4060 and adopted the 5000 policy series from KSB School Law while tabling policy 5032 for the next meeting; the board also approved the financial report and held executive sessions on negotiations and the superintendent evaluation.
The Chase County Schools Board of Education voted Dec. 9 to adopt several policy updates and to table one policy pending later review.
In formal action, the board approved a version of policy 4015 that prohibits board members from being non-certificated staff. Willy O'Neil made the motion to adopt that version of policy 4015; Jeff Olsen seconded it. A roll-call vote recorded 'Yea' from Cindy Arterburn, Jake Banks, Jeff Banks, Jeff Olsen, Willy O'Neil, Dan Reeves, Carrie Terryberry and Board President Steve Wallin.
The board then approved policy 4060 "as presented." Jeff Olsen moved the motion and Willy O'Neil seconded; the same eight members recorded 'Yea' votes.
The board considered the 5000 policy series from KSB School Law and voted to adopt the series as presented but to exclude policy 5032. Jeff Olsen moved to adopt the 5000 series with the exclusion; Jeff Banks seconded. The motion passed with unanimous 'Yea' votes from members present; policy 5032 was tabled to the next meeting for further consideration.
The board also approved the district financial report totaling $823,610.32 after a motion by Jake Banks and a second by Cindy Arterburn; roll call was unanimous among the members in attendance.
Following the public portion of the meeting, the board went into two executive sessions. At 6:45 PM the board convened an executive session to discuss negotiations and included the principals in the initial discussion; principals left the executive session at 7:09 PM and the session concluded at 7:30 PM. The board returned to executive session at 7:33 PM to discuss the superintendent's evaluation; that session ended at 8:05 PM. The meeting adjourned at 8:05 PM.
