Town awards $1.998M contract for Clarifier No. 2 after low-bid math error

According to the resolution presented to council, Brayco, Inc. submitted a written bid figure of $1,976,118.00 but the unit-price entries on its bid extrapolated to a materially different figure ($444,698,340.00). Town procurement staff and the municipal attorney reviewed the submission and determined the Brayco bid contained significant mathematical errors and therefore could not be treated as the valid low bid. The council then adopted Resolution #109-26 to award the work to the next lowest responsive bidder, JVS Industrial Contractors, at $1,998,125.00. The resolution notes funding certified by the Chief Financial Officer from Sewer Utility Capital Budget Ordinance 23-20 (Account C-08-55-842-230) and Ordinance 24-16 (Account C-08-55-845-2522).
Councilman Bruno moved the resolution and Councilman Traphagen seconded; the roll call vote was unanimous in favor (Bruno, Kashwick, Padmos, Stentz, Traphagen, Kovach). The resolution authorizes the mayor and town clerk to execute the contract and directs that certified copies be provided to JVS Industrial Contractors, Suburban Consulting Engineers and the Town Superintendent of Sewers.
