Staff reports summer programs, building availability and a donated modular stage

Staff briefed the board on recreation programming and interim uses for a recently vacated building during the July 16 meeting.
The recreation report noted that a drawing class finished and a second session is planned for September, that a planned sound‑bath session was canceled, and that the free Friday summer yoga program drew good participation but the instructor is stepping away. Staff said they will recruit a new yoga instructor and that the Recology quarterly recycling/shredding event will be held on Saturday with up to three banker’s boxes of paper accepted.
Staff also reported they have access to a modular stage (seven configurable pieces) now stored at the Portola Pump station that can be loaned for community events, and that one building room is bright and usable though it needs paint and a bathroom solution before broader use. Board members discussed holiday‑season ideas (tree lighting, caroling with Wilkinson School) and agreed to schedule building walkthroughs for board members before the August meeting.
Next steps: Staff will research temporary‑use permitting for interim events and arrange walkthroughs for directors.
