Commission keeps Wind Supply warehouse proposal open for plan revisions

Presenters said Wind Supply has operated locally since 1974, currently employs 35 people, runs about 15 trucks a day and has outgrown its existing facility. The applicants described a layout with customer parking and a separate truck circulation pattern, seven loading docks (five dock-height, two at grade) and an elevated ramp to connect the new building to the existing structure for indoor transfer of materials.
Staff and commissioners flagged outstanding technical comments, including water and sewer department feedback (dated April 6), drainage and engineering items. The applicants said they expected to correct many of those items quickly; commissioners agreed to keep the matter open for further technical review and resubmittal and to place it on a future meeting agenda (April 22 or May 13 were discussed).
Key details: The presentation grounded the design intent in minimal off-site stormwater discharge by routing new runoff to a detention area at the rear of the site and routing sewer/water connections to existing utilities on Tuttle Road. Applicants said they are not proposing a new traffic signal for the Newfield entrance; a traffic-impact statement prepared for the application concluded that level-of-service would not be diminished and therefore did not recommend a new signal.
