Parks, pool programming and Waverly economic development staffing discussed

Scott said a resident raised renewed interest in tree-planting through the park, rec and tree committee to expand shade and canopy. Scott also outlined recreation programming: the pool has begun Wednesday-night "disco" parties with a $5.50 admission; the last regular pool day is Aug. 9 with two weekend openings after that; a dog party is scheduled for Aug. 23 and already has about 25 sign-ups; and 111 children are registered for flag football, with registration closing July 24.
Separately, Forrest reported on a Waverly economic development meeting: Amanda has advertised to replace her position and "she said she's got 13 applicants already, 4 or 5 that look really, really good to her," and the committee discussed salary and benefits to attract candidates. The next economic development meeting is set for Aug. 10 and the next CRA meeting for July 20.
Officials encouraged residents to sign up for programs where registration is required. No policy actions or funding approvals related to these items were taken at this session.
