County staff told commissioners they will place a resolution on the 2:00 agenda to lower demolition permit fees for qualifying fire responses to the minimum processing cost plus a state surcharge.
The presenter said the reduced processing fee would be $27.12; with a state surcharge of $6.50 the total fee would be $33.62 for permits associated with fires that received Federal Emergency Management Agency Fire Management Assistance Grant (FMAG) support. The reduction follows prior emergency practice to lower fees after large fires to reduce cleanup costs for impacted residents.
Commissioners asked whether the county’s own emergency declaration could also trigger the reduced fee in the future. Staff said the proposal as drafted uses the FMAG/federal trigger but that the board could discuss adding county declaration language in future revisions.
No formal board action was taken during the briefing; staff requested the item be placed on the afternoon consent agenda for formal adoption.
