The St. Clair County Commission on April 28 amended a previously tabled personnel item at the sheriff’s request to convert one telecommunicator position into a shift supervisor position; county staff said the change will leave the staffing complement at five shift supervisors and 21 telecommunicators.
The commission also approved a motion to apply for a $2,500 America 250 Alabama grant for courthouse decorations (subject to allowable uses) and voted to provide a letter of support for the St. Clair County day program to apply to the Children’s Trust Fund for a SCOPE outreach program. Commissioners approved routine administrative items including surplusing a 2013 Ford Escape for sale, approving small community event purchases (Amazon digital movies $54.97) and a one‑time $400 Meta (Facebook) business expense for event promotion.
All actions were approved by voice vote as recorded in the meeting. Commissioners clarified that grant-funded personnel changes remain subject to the usual budget-vote process.
