River Ridge Board approves $105,000 AV-Tech speed-radar system and mobile unit

At its Nov. 19 meeting the River Ridge Board approved a multi-component traffic-calming package from AV-Tech LLC to install three permanent 15-inch solar-powered radar speed signs and one mobile unit, plus associated cloud-based devices. Mr. Willis presented the long-term plan and cost estimates, and Mr. Long noted that an existing unit recorded about 800 speeding violations over a three-week period.
The proposal included an estimated $74,000 for the three permanent signs, $25,000 for a mobile unit and a yearly $1,500 per cloud traffic device fee; the Board approved the combined package for $105,000 on a motion by Bob Schultz, seconded by Kurt Blumenthal, with all in favor. Mr. Willis said poles to relocate units will be purchased from Paramount Asphalt at about $1,200 each.
Discussion touched on proposed installation sites, the PSGRC criteria for issuing warnings and fines, and the possibility that the homeowners association assume future cloud-device costs offset by covenant fine revenue. The Board authorized the vendor work and the recurring cloud device arrangement as presented.
