Silver Creek Township authorizes culvert work, beaver trapping and grading funds

Maintenance matters were a central part of the Silver Creek Township meeting on Oct. 22. The board recorded plans to replace the culvert on 134th around the end of October or beginning of November and intends to submit remaining project costs to the county to use remaining grant funds.
The Meridian Avenue culvert project, completed by Monticello Township, will reopen the road the following day, according to the maintenance update. Supervisor Ryan Nelson moved to approve up to $750 for beaver trapping to protect roads and drainage; Vice Chairman Brandon Geyen seconded and the motion carried 4-0. Nelson also moved to approve up to $1,000 to hire a water truck for grading if needed; Geyen seconded and that motion carried 4-0.
In old business, the minutes note that Mr. Haack reported receiving a citation from the Wright County Sheriff's Office; the board said it will follow the county's lead on further action. On new-business road layout, supervisors Nelson and Helman described meetings with property owners and an engineer that produced two proposed turnaround locations; the board added a third suggested location to the west of the proposed Big Rigs property and approved two 100-foot radius turnarounds to be supplied with gravel by the township. That motion was recorded as carried 3-0 with Supervisor Andy Christensen recorded as abstaining.
The board adjourned after routine closing motions.
