Oswego OFA readies documents and programs for NYSOFA evaluations in late May

The County of Oswego Office for the Aging reported multiple New York State Office for the Aging (NYSOFA) reviews in April and May that will examine its nutrition, program, and fiscal operations.
Sara Sunday told the advisory council that Wendy Beckman of NYSOFA conducted a nutrition evaluation April 21–22, visiting a dining center, the OFA office and the OCO kitchen; OFA provided follow‑up documents and is awaiting the evaluation results. NYSOFA's biennial program evaluation is scheduled for May 19–21 and is expected to include observations of programs in operation and possibly a visit to a Dining and Activity Center. The minutes state Sara will travel to Albany the week after the program evaluation.
Sara also said NYSOFA has not conducted a fiscal evaluation since before the COVID‑19 pandemic and that OFA has since adopted an entirely new finance system; she expects NYSOFA may begin an on‑site fiscal review starting May 21. OFA staff prepared follow‑up documentation after the nutrition review and are preparing to support the upcoming program and fiscal evaluations.
The minutes note these evaluations are routine NYSOFA oversight activities; no findings or fiscal deficiencies were recorded in the advisory council minutes.
