Ambulance Director Molly Carey told the City Council of Boulder on May 11 that the ambulance service needs roughly $5,000 to install a Stryker power-load system for the cot in Rig 2 and expects funding for two automated external defibrillators at about $1,400 each.
Clerk/Treasurer Rosemary Perna said the city’s professional-services line was strained because Boulder Ambulance Service’s billing vendor, Pintler, charges 8% of billed revenue. Perna had budgeted for roughly $50,000 in billing costs for fiscal year 2025/26, but revenues reached about $90,000, causing payments to Pintler to exceed the budgeted amount.
Perna asked the council to note the discrepancy so departments can revise estimates for the FY2026/2027 budget cycle; no formal funding decision on the Stryker installation or AED purchases was recorded at the workshop. The council heard the ambulance presentation as part of preliminary department budget reviews and directed staff to provide updated cost estimates at the next workshop.
