County Manager Joey Leverette said at the Dawson County Board of Commissioners work session on Oct. 3 that recommendations to Chapter 22 of the county fire code dealing with fire flows will be placed on the Oct. 17 voting session agenda for consideration to move forward to a public hearing. "This item will be placed on the October 17, 2024, Voting Session Agenda for consideration to move forward to a public hearing," Leverette said.
The item was identified on the work session agenda as unfinished business and was noted as last discussed at the Aug. 1, 2024 work session. Commissioners did not vote on the recommendations during the Oct. 3 work session; the work session record indicates the purpose of the Oct. 17 agenda placement is to allow the board to consider sending the matter to a public hearing.
The matter was presented at the work session with county counsel also listed on the item header. The work session minutes do not record a motion, a second, or a vote on the recommendations; they record only the decision to place the item on the Oct. 17 voting agenda for consideration. The record does not specify the exact changes recommended to Chapter 22 beyond that they relate to fire flows.
Next steps: the item will appear on the board's Oct. 17 voting session agenda for the board to decide whether to schedule a public hearing. The Oct. 3 work session did not set a public hearing date and did not contain a formal vote on adoption or amendment.
