Grant County approves VSO pay package, UPS replacement and hears appropriation requests

The Grant County Board of Commissioners on July 7 approved compensation and equipment expenditures and heard two appropriation requests presented in the afternoon session.
Human Resources reported and the board approved an offer for the new Veterans Service Officer (VSO): a stipend of $1,250 per pay period and an annual compensation figure recorded as $32,500. The minutes state the position and the offer will be reviewed in December. The motion was moved by Commissioner Bill LaValley and seconded by Commissioner Troy Johnson and carried.
On public-safety infrastructure the board approved replacing the uninterruptible power supply (UPS) at the Barrett tower site for $9,455.00, with the replacement to occur prior to the scheduled tower project in July 2027 (motion by Commissioner Troy Johnson, second by Commissioner Bill LaValley).
The board also approved a one-year renewal for Veeam backup software at $1,980.66 (moved by Bill LaValley, seconded by Troy Johnson). After a midday recess the board reconvened and received appropriation requests: Grant County Soil and Water Conservation District requested $126,166.00; Grant County Ag Association/Fair Board requested $25,000.00. The minutes record the requests but do not show any approval or funding decisions for those appropriation requests at the July 7 meeting.
Senator Rasmusson attended the meeting and provided legislative updates; the minutes note his attendance without detailing the content of his remarks.
