The Greenbrier County Commission authorized signing a SMDACS-6 bond to support the Get Ready broadband construction project.
Outside counsel explained the bond is required by the West Virginia Division of Highways because the broadband construction crosses state highways at multiple points. Counsel said the bond was negotiated down and referenced a $100,000 figure during the discussion. "The bond has been prepared as part of the Get Ready broadband project, and the bond is a requirement of the West Virginia division highways," counsel said.
Commissioners moved to approve signing and issuing the bond; the motion carried by voice vote. The commission did not record a roll-call tally in the transcript. The meeting proceeded to the next agenda items after the authorization.
The commission also discussed that the bond document did not show a face value on the copy in the packet; counsel indicated the negotiated figure during the discussion.
