Cloud County adopts Resolution 2026-11, raises solid-waste fees

The Cloud County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously June 29 to adopt Resolution 2026-11, which establishes revised solid-waste charges including a 10% increase across resident, business and municipal solid-waste fees and a demolition/construction rate of $50 per ton.

Commissioner Dannie Kearn moved to adopt the resolution; Commissioner Ron Copple seconded the motion, which passed on a unanimous vote of the three commissioners present (Michael Cleveland, Dannie Kearn and Ron Copple). The resolution was described in the meeting as including a 10% fee increase for residents, all business types and municipal solid-waste fees, and the change to $50.00 per ton for demolition/construction waste.

At the same meeting the board approved county expenses totaling $858,669.27 across funds, with the Road & Bridge fund accounting for $670,025.82 of the total. The treasurer said the detailed expense list is available at the County Clerk’s office and on the Clerk’s public records webpage. The board also approved abatements 2026-133 through 2026-137 (net change -$707.22 and refunds of $539.08) and approved the June 22, 2026 minutes. The board adjourned at 1:13 p.m. and will reconvene July 6, 2026.

Sales tax receipts were reported at $87,717.39 for June 24, 2026, down from $90,337.91 the prior year. A thank-you letter from the City of Jamestown regarding a wind-farm grant was acknowledged during the meeting.
