Selectboard hears updates on town plan, capital projects and accounting software

At its Jan. 20 meeting the Hartland Selectboard reviewed several administrative items including the Town Plan, the capital plan, and options for town accounting software, and heard a range of Town Manager updates.
During old-business review the board discussed the Town Plan, identifying typographical fixes and clarifications and considering substantive policy changes related to public input and a chapter-by-chapter review process. The capital plan overview covered transportation and bridges, and town buildings including Damon Hall, the Recreation Center and the Four Corners building as well as equipment replacement needs.
Town Manager John Broker-Campbell reported that the town currently uses NEMRC for accounting and Grand List software and noted that while there are initial costs to switch vendors, most alternatives appeared more expensive than the town’s current service. No formal motion to change software was made.
In operational updates, Broker-Campbell said Valley Artisan will replace the pressure tank at the library; Three Corners lights are scheduled for a three-day installation beginning Feb. 9 with notifications planned for any delays; the transition at Four Corners with Windsor Childhood Education is underway; the board discussed FY2027 budget considerations; and the manager provided information about two-factor authentication for town systems. The second meeting in February will be held Tuesday, Feb. 17 because the Monday date is a holiday.
