Board approves South Coast ESD Local Service Plan after ESD presentation

The Myrtle Point School District 41 board on Thursday approved the South Coast Education Service District’s Local Service Plan following a presentation by South Coast ESD Superintendent Paul Peterson.
Peterson told trustees the LSP is reviewed each year by regional superintendents, the ESD board and the 10 district boards in the ESD service area. “This LSP was designed to provide the maximum flexibility to each of our 10 districts and how they want to use their ESD dollars,” Peterson said, and described tier 1 and tier 2 services that districts may select from the ESD menu.
Why it matters: The LSP governs how ESD funds are used across services such as audiology testing, registration, evaluations and tiered programs districts can opt into. Peterson said the plan “remains unchanged” from prior years and will next be reviewed by area superintendents and the ESD board on November 21 and December 10, 2024, as part of the routine approval cycle.
Trustees moved to approve the plan and the motion carried by voice vote. The board did not amend the document during the meeting.
What’s next: With the board’s approval, the district will proceed under the approved LSP and coordinate with the ESD on any tiered services the district selects. The board did not request additional changes at the meeting.
