Commission outlines town-plan review, mapping updates and shared-document workflow

The commission set a workflow to accelerate its multiyear town-plan revision: members agreed to begin by reviewing the first 31 pages (introduction, land-use history, economy, roles and transportation) and to complete several pages per meeting so the draft advances steadily.

Commissioners discussed two options for updating data: request discrete data points from Windham Regional Commission (WRC) for free where possible, or hire WRC staff to weave updated statistics into the plan narrative; members acknowledged the likely cost but accepted that targeted paid work may be needed. One commissioner said, "We could ask WRC to update everything that's in the current, but even before we decide whether or not we want each of those," and the group agreed to request a list of required updates from WRC.

Committee members reviewed mapping options including LiDAR layers for flood corridors and stream contours, noting the value of high-resolution mapping for showing embankments and potential minor flood pathways. They also discussed exhibit formatting and frequency of map updates; members agreed exhibits will be updated yearly to capture new subdivisions.

On collaboration, commissioners resolved to create a planning-commission Microsoft account (suggested account: "05146 planning commission") and to maintain a single master Word document for edits in public meetings while publishing dated, watermarked PDFs for public access after each meeting. The commission scheduled the introductory chapter review for the June 9 meeting and will invite WRC staff to present the regional-plan draft.
