Finance staff told commissioners approximately $34,500 in Title III funds are available and that four agencies have applied: two fire districts each requested $10,000, the sheriff's office requested about $22,004.67, and Fire District 7 requested roughly $11,002.41.
Troy Brightbill of the sheriff's office described the department's request for two drones and associated rescue equipment used in search-and-rescue operations and said the office could reduce the request โ for example to one drone โ if the board or funders cannot cover the full amount.
Commissioners and staff discussed the competing requests and said applicants were invited to the Title III public hearing to answer questions; no allocations were decided at the briefing.
The Title III fund allocation will be considered at the scheduled public hearing with applicants present to respond to commissioners' questions.
