River Ridge residents press board to address Lake 8 flooding; engineer recommends Seaside-style regrading

Residents say rainwater pooling near Lake 8 is reaching foundations and one homeowner incurred significant mitigation costs; District Engineer Charlie Krebs said regrading similar to recent Seaside work could address the problem and the board will consider it in the FY 2025/2026 budget.

Rich Batterberry, speaking on behalf of several Oak Run residents, told the River Ridge board that rainwater pooling from the monument halfway down Lake 8 takes a long time to recede and that residents are concerned it is getting under foundations. Batterberry said one resident incurred significant costs trying to mitigate water intrusion through a floor.
