Board adopts Gold Canyon Area Drainage Master Plan

The Lyon County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously June 18 to adopt the Gold Canyon Area Drainage Master Plan (ADMP) following a presentation by Mike Kellogg of JE Fuller.
Kellogg described what an ADMP is, the Gold Canyon study area, project elements and supporting resident documentation. During public comment Robin Biggs referenced a Federal Soil Survey and urged attention to housing in flood-prone areas. Commissioner Robert Jacobson moved to adopt the plan; Commissioner David Hockaday seconded and the motion passed 5-0.
The ADMP outlines drainage priorities and project animations for Gold Hill and Silver City and is intended to guide future capital projects and permitting in the study area. The county did not adopt a specific funding package for immediate construction at the meeting; implementation steps will be handled by county staff and consultants.
