Properties Committee backs referral to accept two state mapping grants before May 15 deadline

Lapeer County’s Properties Committee recommended the Full Board refer acceptance of two Michigan Public Safety Critical Incident Mapping grants—priority 1 for $10,240 and priority 2 for $10,578—to the May 14 Committee of the Whole with authority to act because of the May 15, 2026 acceptance deadline.

Sarah Whaley, the county’s emergency management official, told the Properties Committee on April 23 that two Michigan Public Safety Critical Incident Mapping competitive grants would produce blueprint-style maps of the county’s high‑use buildings to support incident response. Whaley explained how buildings were selected and described the square‑footage and mapping process, and committee members asked that the properties designated as “priority 1” and “priority 2” be reviewed again at a later properties meeting.
