Selectboard hears heating problems at Baxter Library and Old School House boiler failure

Nicola Shipman reported repeated heating problems at town buildings. At Baxter Memorial Library, Alliance reduced the intake on the ERV to draw less outside air into the heat pump, which improved temperatures during recent subzero weather but may not be a permanent fix. A staff member identified as Shana told the board the building was warmer after the adjustment.
Shipman also said Boiler 1 at the Old School House failed on Monday and that the building was very cold as a result; she described ongoing heating issues during the year. Jack Jones Construction will replace the Old School House basement ceiling in late winter/early spring, and an RFQ for interior painting at Old Town Hall will open Thursday. No immediate contract authorization for heating replacement was recorded at the meeting.
