Monroe enacts Wildland-Urban Interface code after map update
Summary
The council adopted Ordinance 6 01 2026 enacting the Utah Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) Code, approving a revised WUI map recommended by staff and the Planning Commission; the vote was unanimous 4-0.
Councilmembers reviewed a revised Wildland-Urban Interface map presented at the meeting. After discussion, Councilmember Perry Payne moved to adopt Ordinance 6 01 2026 enacting the Utah Wildland Urban Interface Code; Councilmember Michael Mathie seconded. The roll call vote was Bagley, Johnson, Mathie and Payne in favor, and the ordinance passed unanimously, 4-0.
The WUI code adoption aligns local building and land-use practices with wildfire-risk mitigation priorities. Staff will integrate the revised map and new code language into planning review procedures.
