The Town of Bath municipal council approved a budget revision and three payments during its Aug. 19 meeting. Council read and adopted Resolution 20250823, directing a revision of the town's budget to allow transfers into street-construction lines and other funds.
"The municipal council does hereby direct the budget to be revised prior to the expenditure or obligation of funds for which no appropriation or insufficient appropriation currently exists," the clerk read as the resolution was offered, and the council approved it after a motion moved by Susan Webster and seconded by Mary Lynn Hickey. Elizabeth Skinner was recorded as absent for the vote; the remaining members voted in favor as read into the record.
Following the resolution, the council approved a motion to pay the Town of Bath bills totaling $15,979.51 and separately approved payments for Berkeley Springs water bills in the amount of $72,326.11 and Greenway Cemetery bills of $3,715. "I have a motion on the floor to pay the town of Bath bills in the amount of $15,979.51," the clerk stated before the council approved it by voice vote.
Council members framed the budget revision as an administrative step to align appropriations with planned street work. The finance committee noted the transfer will enable additional asphalt and public-works activity in the coming months. The council closed the finance portion after the votes and moved on to other items.
