Planning Commission forwards two conditional-use recommendations to County Board

The Commission voted unanimously to recommend approval of a Brutscher after-the-fact Tier IV feedlot expansion (with a 1,568 animal-unit cap) and a Platte River Prairie mini-storage CUP (with utility and outdoor-storage conditions); both items go to the County Board on July 14, 2026.
At its July 7 meeting the Morrison County Planning Commission closed its public hearing and unanimously recommended two conditional-use permit applications to the County Board for final action on July 14, 2026.
For the Brutscher after-the-fact Tier IV dairy feedlot, the commission accepted staff materials (Sections 604.6 and 1209 of the county ordinance), received one written comment and a supportive township comment, and included conditions limiting animal units to 1,568 and requiring runoff controls, seeding of vegetative areas and relocation of calf hutches per SWCD suggestion. For the Platte River Prairie LLC mini-storage proposal, staff entered Section 604.5 and applicants accepted conditions clarifying that no on-site water or septic would be offered; commissioners also discussed driveway access from 68th Street and potential restrictions on outdoor storage.
The public hearing closed at 7:00 p.m.; commissioners approved the June 23, 2026 minutes and adjourned at 7:01 p.m. Both CUP recommendations will be considered by the Morrison County Board of Commissioners at its July 14, 2026 meeting.
