The Ely City Council appointed Desiree Ramirez as the city’s Human Resource Director effective July 1, 2025, following an interview and recommendation by Mayor Nathan Robertson.

Mayor Robertson said Ramirez and the current Treasurer/Deputy HR Director have been collaborating on rebuilding the HR program and that the appointment moves HR work to a dedicated official level.
Ramirez requested a starting salary of $62,500 citing her certifications and experience; the Council approved the appointment by unanimous vote. Council members emphasized the need for proactive HR work, record audits, and training to reduce personnel-related liabilities.
