Commission approves multiple scope deducts, keeps generator in Marble Hall contract

The commission considered a list of proposed deducts (scope removals) to lower project cost and voted on each measure individually. Mayor Freddie Foster moved and the commission approved removing the Staff Patio Pergola ($29,743.00), the Marble Hall Patio Pergola ($97,861.00), the Staff Patio Concrete Slab ($6,176.00), the Marble Hall Patio Slab ($11,841.00) and a spalling repair deduct for $855.00. The commission also approved accepting a zero-dollar non-turnover use of Marble Hall during construction.

When the generator deduct was raised, Vice‑Mayor Doug Colonell and Commissioner Tom Harding noted the building's designation as an Emergency Operations Center and relevant state grant funding; the commission rejected the generator deduct and left generator installation in the contract. Contractor representative Ken Bygler said the project would proceed with or without an immediate NTP, but cautioned against ordering shop drawings before the city issues the NTP.
