Council approves 2026 first budget amendment, adds $35,000 for digital reader boards

Kristen Reed, the city’s finance director, presented the second reading of Ordinance 2841, the first budget amendment for fiscal 2026. Reed said she had made a couple of small changes since the first reading and highlighted an added $35,000 allocation to purchase two digital reader boards to be paid from the street fund; she said the IT fund transfer had been split across funds according to existing budget practices.
Reed also noted that Fund 35 (the Facilities Fund) would fall below the city’s reserve policy as a result of the amendment. The Finance and Technology committee reported full support and a council member moved and seconded approval; the council approved the ordinance on second reading by voice vote. "We added an additional $35,000 for 2 digital reader boards, that'll be paid for out of the street fund," Reed said.
Council adopted the amendment; staff and the finance director will monitor fund reserves going forward.
