Board discusses a five-year master plan and whether a DNR master plan is required

Board members said they want a structured five-year strategic master plan and discussed whether a formal DNR-approved master plan is required to pursue DNR funding. The Chair said, “When we were gonna do the 5 year master plan, 2 years ago, it was quoted at $12,000 for help to do that,” and noted past efforts in 2010 and 2015/16 had required public input and outside assistance.
Members highlighted the difficulty of securing public participation and the funding needed to hire outside help. The Chair suggested collecting more input at the Sept. 23 summit and using a short SWOT-form template circulated to board members ahead of the Aug. 5 planning meeting to gather strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that will feed into the master-plan process.
