Commissioners send Ozark Fire & Rescue's 501(c)(3) proposal to attorney for contract drafting

Jul 22, 2026

After extended discussion about assets, grants and long-term liability, the commissioners voted to send the Ozark Fire & Rescue 501(c)(3) proposal to the district attorney with instructions to draft a contract and identify legal risks and safeguards.

The full story

Commissioner Mister Harrison summarized a proposal from a newly formed nonprofit, Ozark Fire and Rescue (EIN established), that would provide volunteer fire services under a subcontract with the SID. He said the nonprofit could access grant funds the SID cannot, and that some firefighting equipment already valued at roughly $62,000 has been located and could be used if properly housed. "My motion is to send this to the attorney for his input and to draw a contract," Mister Harrison said, explaining that attorney review would identify blind spots and protect the district.
