Program manager outlines $1.1M HUD-funded lead-hazard work for Windham County

Elisha Underwood, Program Manager of the Windham County Lead Hazard Control Program, described to the Selectboard how a $1.1 million grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is being used to expand lead-hazard reduction work across Windham County. She said the funding supports training and certification for additional lead-abatement contractors, assistance for property owners and occupants, and outreach to encourage testing of children ages 1 and 2.
Underwood noted training resources for local stakeholders: "A free one-day RRPM (Renovation, Repair, Painting & Maintenance) course is available for contractors, homeowners, landlords, parents, and childcare providers." She directed residents to the Brookline webpage for more information and enrollment details. The presentation was informational; the board did not take action during the meeting.
