Commissioners add environmental stewardship language for industrial areas, emphasize buffering
In revising Chapter 8, the working group added environmental stewardship considerations to industrial land-use language and reworked a line to say the county should protect rural and residential areas from incompatible industrial encroachment.

As commissioners moved through land-use categories, they spent significant time on industrial designation language. Several members proposed adding environmental responsibility or stewardship as a criterion for industrial locations to avoid turning the county into a site for low-quality or incompatible industrial uses. "I would like to see environmental responsibility versus environmental protection," one commissioner said during the discussion.
