Launch & Learn summer program serves 417 children, intern says

Grace Fox, the parks department intern, told council that the Launch & Learn summer program has grown this year and reached 417 children so far, up from the low 300s last summer. "We hit 417 children as of today," Fox said, and noted typical daily attendance ranges from about 40 to 100 depending on activities and vacation schedules.
Fox highlighted a collaboration with COSI for a weekly "Epic with COSI" invention-style program; she said the COSI director, Amanda, is expected to attend the Aug. 4 presentation day when students will display their inventions. The program also plans a partnership with the public-service department and Waste Management for a separate activity this week.
