Shelter to add FeLV/FIV and heartworm testing, funded partly by recycling program

Shelter volunteer/staff Trish told commissioners the animal shelter will begin FeLV/FIV SNAP testing for cats prior to adoption and heartworm testing for dogs, using recycled aluminum-can income to subsidize the service package.

Trish told commissioners the shelter will begin offering SNAP testing for cats to screen for feline leukemia and FIV before adoption and will start heartworm testing for dogs so those tests can be included with the adoption package. "We're now gonna be bringing in, snap test for cats to test everybody for female leukemia and for female age, but prior to being adopted," Trish said, summarizing the new health checks.
