County reports about $14,000 collected so far through state tax-intercept program

Staff told the committee the county signed up late for the state tax-intercept program that captures state refunds to collect outstanding debts owed to the county. "As of today's date, we've collected about $14,000 from that program, which I mean, we came in real late," Staff member (Speaker 5) said, and added the county started reporting in late March so collections should increase next season.
Staff said weekly reports are provided and the county will continue to monitor the program’s performance. Committee members asked when the program began and staff said set-up occurred around the end of March; staff will bring updated totals to future meetings.
