City flags seven outdated computers; three marked urgent for replacement

Rick Oldwell told the committee that a recent IT inventory shows seven city computers that cannot be upgraded to supported Windows versions and that three of those are urgent. "If you look at the colors on the far right of that page, you see some are upgradeable, some are not upgradeable... There are 7 computers that need to be replaced. 3 of them I have put as being urgent," Oldwell said.
Oldwell said he has a quote for the first replacement and that other replacements will wait until the next budget cycle if not urgent. Committee members discussed temporary mitigation options (such as paying for extended security updates) and asked staff to manage backups and data migration for affected machines.
