After a presentation from the Best Foot Forward director, the Board of County Commissioners adopted a proclamation endorsing the program and its data‑driven approach to raising driver yield rates and reducing pedestrian injuries.

Vince Dyer, director of the Best Foot Forward pedestrian safety program, told the board the initiative measures driver‑yield rates at crosswalks and pairs those measurements with low‑cost engineering, public education and targeted enforcement. "Anything above 66% on average is considered pretty good," Dyer said, describing how the program marks an observed stop as a yield and tracks improvements after outreach and signage changes.
