Staff reported that the town council advanced proposed accessory dwelling unit (ADU) code changes at a first reading. "Cliff brought the exact ADU regulations in for a 1st reading, and it sailed through," a commissioner said. Planning staff summarized the proposal as moving toward greater flexibility for ADUs while keeping deed-restricted ADUs as an option.
Staff said the code adjustments modify several development-code policies but preserve a deed-restricted pathway for projects that need positive points or other incentives. Cliff Cross told commissioners that he has already received multiple inquiries from residents interested in constructing ADUs once the code is finalized; staff said a second reading is scheduled for the following week.
