Trappe Council approves MD Rural Water apprenticeship program
The council voted unanimously to join a two-year, grant-funded apprenticeship program through the MD Rural Water Association to train water and wastewater operators; the program covers coursework via grants but water and wastewater tracks cannot be completed simultaneously.

Patty Shreves, representing the MD Rural Water Association, told the council the apprenticeship is a two‑year, grant‑funded training pathway to a water operator license. "This program is a 2 year program with on the job training for an apprentice to receive their water operator license," Shreves said.
