The Selectboard heard a presentation from Vermont Integrated Architecture on a proposed Town Hall renovation intended to improve life safety, energy performance and accessibility while providing a permanent, accessible space for the Putney Historical Society. Andrea Murray, principal architect, said the team completed a thorough assessment of the building and site and presented concepts developed after stakeholder meetings and research. The town engaged HP Cummings as an advisor for pre-construction services.
Community members asked technical questions about sprinklers, elevator choice and basement vault moisture. Andrea Murray said a sprinkler system is not required unless second-floor occupancy exceeds 50 people, described use of an enclosed-cab LULA elevator and said perimeter drainage and exterior insulation would address moisture concerns in the vault. The board expressed that the project is moving in the right direction and indicated Town Meeting would provide a venue for broader community conversation and potential votes.
