Green Mountain Power outlines local resiliency projects; Selectboard approves work

Representatives from Green Mountain Power presented planned and ongoing projects in Putney, including culvert replacements, line improvements, and targeted undergrounding work on Putney Mountain Road, Banning Road, Aiken Road, Dusty Ridge and George Braley Road. Tim Jones thanked the town and said the program will run through Sept. 30, 2026.
Residents raised timing and resiliency concerns: Aileen Tulloch said traffic control timing near Putney Central School was poor; Conn "Swift Everdy" Kennedy-Spielman said Turner Trail loses power every winter and asked whether that area would receive resiliency work. Tim Jones said Turner Trail was not currently on the list but that GMP would review resiliency for that area. He also noted that customers would have the opportunity to have their lines undergrounded from the road to their house at their own expense. Peg Alden moved to approve the three projects as outlined and the motion passed.
