The Planning Commission received updates on subdivision-review improvements and the general plan work program. Director of Community Development reported that the full draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the Trinity 2050 general plan was published on July 15 and that notice of availability and the draft materials are posted on the county website.
The director said staff proposed a schedule of study sessions and additional meetings to complete targeted zoning-code updates and noted that available funding and staff capacity are finite: the county has expended a substantial portion of the general-plan funds and must also accomplish numerous rezones in the coming years. Commissioners discussed whether to accelerate zoning-code revisions before potential turnover or to prioritize continuity into the next commission's term.
The director asked commissioners to be mindful of staff capacity when setting dates; commissioners agreed to revisit scheduling but also emphasized the urgency of completing the zoning work and the general-plan process.
