Trustees approve MOU to pilot Texas Tech University K‑12 virtual instruction

The board voted to pursue a partnership with Texas Tech University K-12 to offer an asynchronous virtual school option with campus registration, eligibility requirements, an Aug. 10 application deadline for an Aug. 12 launch, and monitoring by both the university and Lubbock ISD.

Misty Reber presented a memorandum of understanding with Texas Tech University K‑12 to provide virtual school instruction for Lubbock ISD students. She described the model as asynchronous online learning that will follow the Lubbock ISD calendar, include campus registration and maintain district enrollment and WADA funding. Elementary registration will be at Honey and Whiteside; most secondary campuses are eligible except McCool and Talkington to preserve UIL eligibility.
